The Biggest Tsunami

You might think that the world's biggest tsunami happened in Japan, but you are wrong. The Biggest tsunami happened in Alaska.

On July 9th, 1958, an earthquake hit Alaska Panhandle. The earthquake spreaded to northeastern shore of Lituya Bay. A mass of rock plunged down about 914 meters into the water. The impact generated a tsunami that crashed against the southwest shoreline of Gilbert Inlet. The wave hit with too much power that it went over the land that divided Gilbert Inlet and Lituya Bay. The wave continued along the Lituya Bay and then over La Chaussee and over Gulf of Alaska. The wave swept all the trees from elevations as high as 524 meters above sea level. Millions of trees were uprooted by the wave. That was the biggest tsunami.

Lituya Bay is a ice covered inlet on the northeast shore of Gulf of Alaska. It is about 11 kilometers long. 2 kilometers wide and it's 219 meters deep.

Climate change in Canada

Soon there will be 2010 Vancouver Olympics! Sometimes I'm a little worried because I heard that the temperture is getting warmer and warmer. The few events that will be held in Cypress mountains is delayed for 5 days. Also mountains are getting warmer and soon there won't be any more snow. Let's just hope that Whistler gets a little colder.

Climate change in korea

Starting in December 2009, Korea started to snow and it was horrible. It went up to 16c. Cars were slipping on the road and people started taking subway which made people suffer more. One lady fainted in the subway station because there were so many people. Although people suffered, children had lots of fun. They were snow fighting and skiing also riding sleighs.
